Laboratory Testing Inc. Completes 12,000 sq. ft. Expansion

Characterizations from a chemical analysis lab offer manufacturers deeper material insight.

Building and parking expansionConstruction of a 12,000 sq. ft. building addition and 65-space parking lot was completed this week at Laboratory Testing Inc. in Hatfield, PA. Steady sales growth and plans to add new materials testing and calibration services prompted the decision to enlarge the facility.

The testing laboratory purchased the original 45,000 sq. ft. building in 1999 and added a 2-story 9,000 sq. ft. addition before moving into the Hatfield facility in early 2000. “We were excited about all of the new space when we first moved to Hatfield eight years ago. We never expected to outgrow the building as quickly as we did”, said Mike McVaugh, president of Laboratory Testing Inc. “We’ve added employees and equipment, and have run into a shortage of space to conveniently store orders that are in the work queue”, he added.

This new addition will be home to the company’s Calibration Lab and will double the size of the Machine Shop. Most of the area previously used for calibration services will be turned over to Nondestructive Testing, and a small section will enlarge the Shipping/Receiving Department. This additional space will make room for new equipment and more storage space to handle large materials and the growing number of orders more efficiently.
